Occupational Therapy (OT)

Occupational Therapy, Pivotal Therapies, Navan

Our Passion in Occupational Therapy is to support you and your child to understand where the challenges are and how to support these by therapy or compensatory strategies. We love to empower parents to be able to support their child’s needs at home.

What is Occupational Therapy:

Children’s Occupational Therapy focuses on how the young person manages their everyday activities such as play, learning (school/learning new skills) and self-care (feeding, dressing, toileting); in essence their “occupation”. The goal of Occupational Therapy is to enable the child to perform functional tasks and activities at home, in school and the community to the best of their ability.

Does your child have difficulty with:

  • Fine motor (dressing/handwriting/pencil grasp/picking up items etc).

  • Gross motor (hopping/skipping/jumping/climbing etc).

  • Everyday life skills e.g. dressing, tying laces, managing cutlery.

  • Sensory processing.

  • Developmental co-ordination disorder (DCD)/Dyspraxia.

  • Organisational skills (executive functioning difficulties).

  • Handwriting and is requiring assessment for assistive technology (laptop).

How can Occupational Therapy help?

An assessment to identify your child’s challenges is generally the starting point, as well as identifying if your child is presenting with a neurodivergent type presentation such as DCD/dyspraxia, Autism or ADHD.

Provide intervention and advice in relation to:

  • Self care skills such as washing, dressing, toileting, feeding.

  • School skills such as writing or learning new skills.

  • Organisational skills.

  • Handwriting.

  • Sensory processing/devise sensory diets.

  • School education.

What services do we provide:

We provide assessment and intervention to children and young adults aged between 4 and early 20’s that present with difficulties in the areas listed above. Services are provided in:

  • Clinic based – which can include use of outdoor space and equipment.

  • School visits.

  • School training/education provided based on the schools needs and on request.

BioKinesiology
(BioK)

BioKinesiology, Pivotal Therapies, Navan

BioKinesiology is suitable for all ages.

The most common areas that we can support you with include:

  • Pain and fatigue

  • Heartburn, indigestion

  • Digestive issues (constipation/diarrhoea IBS)

  • Food intolerances

  • Headaches

  • Skin problems such as eczema/psoriasis

  • Low immune system

  • Allergies

  • Anxiety/depression

BioKinesiology is a gentle (no needles involved!) complementary therapy that uses the ancient technique of muscle testing to look at your body's biochemistry and detect imbalances which may be causing symptoms. These can range from food intolerances, toxins and infections to gut dysbiosis (gut imbalance). In BioKinesology we aim to investigate the root cause of issues and identify the best treatment, individually tailored for you - using nutrition, supplementation and lifestyle choices.

We can do a combination session of BioKinesiology and the Emotion code.

A session will generally last between 50-60minutes and consists of a chat at the start before starting the gentle testing.

Emotion Code

Emotion Code, Pivotal Therapies, Navan

The Emotion Code has changed our lives for the better following a traumatic event my daughter experienced with a dog. After a few sessions of the emotion code, she no longer fears dogs which could potentially have impacted on her life after the trauma of this event.

What is the emotion code?

The emotion code uses muscle testing to detect negative trapped emotions stored in the subconscious mind which can have an impact on our body unknown to us. These issues can present as pain, discomfort, self sabotage, emotional problems, sleep or behaviour issues etc.  This method was designed by Dr Bradley Nelson following many years of research and his findings are, that once you identify the emotion and release, this can have a positive impact on your life.

What is a trapped emotion?

Every day we feel a range of emotions and for some reason, some emotions (generally negative ones) become trapped in our bodies and can affect our bodies to react in a certain way that we can be unaware of. We can all remember certain events that have affected our feelings or emotions during different times in our lives. Well you may have this emotion trapped and it may be affecting you in a way you don’t even know.

Who would benefit from the emotion code?

In my opinion, everyone would benefit from at least one session as we all have layers of trapped emotions. Animals can also trap emotions, that can also be released by using their owner as a surrogate.

Distance Emotion Code – the emotion code can be completed over zoom or biproxy without your child or you being involved in it and works the exact same as in person.
